《被風偷走的帽子》

讓人犯愁的冬季一個不少准時准晌地來了。我家的灶屋，黑鍋底透著銹紅的冰渣，水缸裂了縫，結了冰，取水時需用鐵錘鑿開冰層。做熟飯，母親往灶灰里放一塊紅磚，過半個時辰，取出，讓我們摟著那塊磚頭取暖。這個笨辦法是母親的創新發明。可是，這仍然解決不了大問題。我們冷啊！像樹巔一片枯萎的黃葉瑟縮顫抖不已。我的手凍了，腳凍了，特別是耳朵，裂了口子，灼心般地疼。腳凍了，母親給我們的鞋子里墊上溫暖而舒適的乾草；手凍了，母親用拆解的舊衣服做護手的棉筒。耳朵怎麼辦呢？
母親下定了決心，一定要給我買上一頂棉帽。母親想要的是那種有耷耳、里子披絨的棉帽。那年冬天，母親就無數次說過：「要是有一頂棉帽就好了。」一頂棉帽對於一個窮人的家庭是奢侈的，母親沒有錢去買一頂棉帽。這事就擱著，一直到與冬天的再一次重逢。其實，那頂帽子並沒有因為隨後春天的來臨，把母親的願望打消掉，相反，卻像一粒生命力極為頑強的種子，經春歷夏，更加枝繁葉茂起來。
母親把攢下的零零毛毛和借來的布票小心翼翼地用手帕包好，面帶笑容，吩咐我說：「走，去買帽子。」到供銷社有七八里地，母親不空著手，背上竹筐，經過野地時，順便拾些做飯的柴禾。我扯著母親的衣角，高興地隨在後面。
母親捧著棉帽走出來，瞅了瞅天邊的陰雲，愣了一下。她忽然覺察售貨員似乎算錯了賬目，少找了錢。母親迅速地把灰手帕蓋在裝滿竹筐的柴禾上，棉帽輕輕放上去。母親急轉身，奔進了供銷社。
母親再次出來時，棉帽不翼而飛。
帽子的丟失讓母親大為震驚，喘著粗氣大聲斥責，帽子呢？咱們的帽子呢？你把它藏哪兒了？我膽怯地說不出話來。我一直蜷縮在竹筐旁邊，我沒有感覺到帽子是怎樣長腿跑掉了，只知道一陣大風吹來，吹得臉麻麻的，我用衣襟護著自己的眼。
母親喊我：「你撒尿去了？」我搖搖頭。
「你一直在這？」我點點頭。
「有人來過？」我不點頭，也不搖頭。我實在是記不起來了，疑懼地看著母親扭曲變形的臉。
母親瘋了似的。
「誰拿了帽子……誰拿走我們的帽子……」
沒有人應答。母親見一個人問一個人，沒有人知道那頂帽子的去處。母親似乎覺察出什麼——那頂帽子再也不會回來，帽子被人偷了。既然被人偷了，誰還肯拿出來歸還它的主人呢？除非那人像母親一樣瘋了。
母親開始用最難聽的話發泄自己的憤懣。字字句句都是投向空中的炸雷。整個世界都不存在了，只有母親一個人在掙扎，母親的臉像是藏了一隻受了驚嚇的小獸，不住地顫抖。母親的嗓子啞了，喊聲弱下去，剩下哭泣聲和寒風糾纏著，撕扯著。吹亂的頭發上沾滿了草屑，衣襟上的扣子掉了，花褲帶蛇一樣地垂下來。母親的那個樣子儼然是得理不要命的潑婦。母親是一個矮小瘦弱的女人，向來是溫順的，連說話都是慢聲細語、小聲小氣，母親異常的舉止讓我想到隱藏著的人性的另一面。後來，母親回憶起這件事，也總是說，怎麼會那個樣子？她不會輕易地提到這件事，母親是要忘記這件事。不輕易地提及這件事，並不能說明她已經把這件事遺忘。
圍攏的人多了。大家疑慮母親精神有毛病，有人建議掐人中，有人嚷著扇耳光，還有人提出送鎮衛生所。母親反抗著每一雙伸過來的手。
正在左右為難的時候，有人喊，那不是帽子嗎？
帽子靜悄悄地躲在道坡子下面的灌木棵子旁邊，無動於衷地仰著臉瞅著這一群人，也安然地瞅著母親。母親瘸著腿走出人群，下了道坡，拾起那頂帽子。母親把帽子戴到我的頭上，壓了壓帽頂，又正了正帽沿。背起竹筐，把我抱起來，誰也不理會，踏著人們的目光，漸漸走遠。一路上，母親摟著我，很緊很緊，彷彿我就是那頂容易被風偷走的帽子……
母親沒有陪伴我走完少年的時光，就急匆匆地一個人踏上了那條不歸的旅程。有時候，我總是默默地想，如果母親在，家會是別一番景象。但，那是怎樣的景象，我又想像不出來。即使想了很多，即使夢了很多，都是徒勞，只是增加一份無奈的牽念。關於母親的往事很多，獨拿出這一件來，表達我對母親的思念。清明節，在母親墳旁，遍插柳枝，為母親的墳培上新土，我還不會忘記折一頂紙帽，放在祭品邊側。我知道，母親會在天堂惦念著兒女，她看到帽子，就收到了兒女們的來信，她就會放下懸著的一顆心，默默為兒女祈禱……
